Design Breif - Cactus TV

In illustrator we have been given a task to design a logo for a faux tv network called "Cactus Tv."

The target for the logo is to create something that is comedy related but at the same time still simple and unforgettable. This logo must be appropriate for both children and adults. The client has insisted that they would like the colours of the logo both bright and fun. The image needs to be extremely versitile, the logo is going to be used for websites, on screen (as a watermark), posters and billboards etc. The logo is going to be one of the most important parts in the displaying and presentation of the tv network so the design must be memorable.

Logo Report

The above logo is the logo for the fashion company "chanel." In my opinion i beleive that this logo is a very well thought and made logo. It is a worldwide known logo that is timeless and wouldnt ever be the same if it was changed. they have made it very versitlie, can be shrinked or blown up to any size with ease and and be printed in any colour. Although it is a very simple logo they have made it very apropriate to the products.

The next logo is is for a real estate business, this is the one that i dislike. i dont think this logo has been very well thought out. With the text absent from the image then you have no idea what it is for. It is not a very versitile logo. Eventhough it can be shrunk or blown up to any size easily, it can only be printed in the one colour for you know know the logo. i beleive to change this logo they could make it more about housing, maybe instead of the triangle in the middle of the logo they could have had an actual house, and instead of the red and blue they could have made it colours that stand out more.

Business card report

The following business card is the one that i like, i find this design very apropriate towards business that it is displaying. The design is simple, yet still looks classy and sofisticated. The colours and patterns that they have used are bright, stand out and go well nicely together. I beleive this design is easily read and interpreted as a bakery designer.
The following card is the one that i dislike. i find this design really crowded and hard to read. All of the logos and information are placed really poorly. i beleive that they could have made a double sided card with the betta electrical logo on one side, they then could have put all of the information and business details onto the back of the card. i think this would make the card not look so "crowded"

Business Cards

We were asked over the holidays to find some buinesss cards that we like and dislike.

The following business cards are the ones that i like. i feel that they caught my eye, you can basically tell what they for are by just looking at them and the colours are bright and go together nicely.

These are the business card designs i do not like. i find the designs really boring and bland to look at.

Logos

Over the holidays the class were given homework to find 3 logos that we do like and 3 logos that we do not like.

The reason i have chosen the following logos for the ones that i do like is that i believe that they are eye catching and stand out, while they are still simple but look classy.

For the logos that i do not like i have chosen the following. I do not find these appealing at all, and i do not like the colour schemes they have used:

Marketplace Logo/ Business Card Redesign

In illustrator we have been given a task to create a new logo for the local shopping centre. We then had to create it into a display business card. Here is how i went.

Dont count your chickens before they have hatched.

The objective of this task is to communicate a theme using images without letting the viewer know what your actually trying to say.
The meaning of the line 'don't count your chickens before they have hatched'  is that you cant always expect for things to happen a certain way, until they happen.
I chose to create a scenario where a young woman having her first child, and she has planned for a baby girl. Little did she know she was having a boy, and has already bought everything and planned her life around a girl. She has 'counted her chickens before they have hatched.'
Ive used 18 layers in the making of this image, minimum was 15. All images found on google images.
Let me know what you think.

The grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

After doing some research i found the meaning for this metaphorical idiom is; other peoples circumstances seem more desirable then ones own. This is very true, every one wants what they cant have.
The aim to this task was to express the theme through imagery without actually telling the viewer with words what you are trying to say.
I chose the most obvious things that seem desirable to most people such as money, fame, love and fortune. I researched 15 different images to do with each of these things, and put them all together onto a 1920x1080 canvas.
The cutting and positioning of all the images took the most time in completing this task, but all in all i am quite happy with how it has come up.
Feel free to express your opinions.

In Space

For this we have been asked to create one single image with a minimum of 40 layers, using images off the internet and photoshop. We were asked to make this as realistic as possible.
This was a fairly simple task, just quite time consuming, let me know your opinions.

'When it rains it Pours'

For this task the class has been asked to create an image with a minimum of 15 layers, to describe how we would interpret the saying 'When it rains it pours.' To start with i researched the definition of this saying and found that it means, when one bad thing goes wrong, many other things also go wrong. I spent some time to think on how i could produce this saying into a single image without using text. I then searched and used images from google, and used photoshop to combinde them all.
This is what ive come up with, let me know what you think.

Complete Composites (Photoshop) Assesment.

For my first assesment, we have been asked to create 6 separate images using images from the internet and photoshop. All images bust be both technically sound and conceptually communicative.
All images need to be to the right size requirements and have a certain amount of layers. Submittal by the 2nd May 2011.
